Plan on being in the Twin Cities for the holidays? Need to get some last minute, thoughtful gifts?
If there is one thing that Minnesota is known for, it is the incredibly cold, snowy winters. Locals know how to survive and even enjoy the weather. While you're visiting our lovely winter wonderland, we have a few tips on how to stay happy and warm in this frigid climate!
There are so many reasons to choose short term apartment rentals in Minneapolis instead of hotels. Business travel can be busy and tedious, filled with meetings, long evenings, and deadlines. Even vacation can be stressful sometimes. There are so many things to consider: transportation and accommodation concerns and feeling homesick can be exhausting. Lately, the trend is to opt for short term housing instead of picking a hotel.
Like something straight out of a movie starring Al Pacino and Marlon Brando, St. Paul, Minnesota has a fascinating gangster history. The Wabasha Street Caves are located on Wabasha Street in downtown St. Paul across from the Mississippi River. You may be surprised to learn that St. Paul’s gangster history is unmatched compared to most American cities. Historically, “public enemy era” criminals like John Dillinger and the Barker gang frequented the caves. These were some of the “most ruthless, dangerous and resourceful criminal brains” of the 1920’s and 30’s according to J. Edgar Hoover, and all of them were wanted by the FBI for their crimes.
If you’re not from around here, then it may come as a surprise to you during your visit that in Minnesota we don’t put cheese on top of our burgers but we stuff it inside (er, well sometimes we do both). Not only that, but we put a lot of our other favorite things in there, too. It’s like the patties are short-term housing for gooey goodness until you take a bite. At The Blue Door, they put a gourmet twist on the south Minneapolis classic jucy lucy. Their cutely named Blucy is filled not only with plain ol’ American cheese (boring, and they have that too), but blue cheese or Colby or coconut milk soaked mozzarella—even breaded and fried cheese curds like a real Minnesotan burger should be filled with. Thank goodness for the Jucy Lucy!
